The new CD of the Sinfonieorchester Basel continues the recordings of the great ballets by Igor Stravinsky. In the third edition Pétrouchka (original version 1911) is the follow up to Le Sacre du printemps and L'Oiseau de feu. All three ballets are recorded both in the orchestral version and in the version for piano four hands. While these parallel started by Stravinsky to draw up the orchestral score versions should serve primarily study and rehearsal only; insofar as it is different in the new recording as of the particular for concert performances “Trois mouvements de Petrushka” for piano solo (1921) and other subsequent (partial) operations. Dennis Russell Davies has again recorded the original version with his wife Maki Namekawa. The Sinfonieorchester Basel is one of the oldest and most innovative orchestras in Switzerland. Anchored in northwestern Switzerland, it enjoys a strong national and international reputation.
