Danco's conception of Concepcion has the virture of never being overdone; instead she relies on Ravel's delicious word-setting to make its subtle points without underlining or eyebrow raising -though her portrayal offers plenty of charm and a good deal of point. Maderna was a specialist in 20th-century scores. His reading is impressively fluent and accurate without being either cold or clinical.
