About

As part of “Around the World Tour 2007”, Paavo Järvi and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen (DKPB) visited Japan in July and performed all Beethoven programs in 5 concerts and one lecture concert within a week. “Dancing ensemble” is the headline of Yomiuri Newspaper, hailing the concert as “reviving the original excitement in Beethoven’s music”. Grammy-award winning Paavo Järvi has built a remarkable conducting reputation. Born in Tallinn, Estonia, he studied percussion and conducting at the Tallinn School of Music then, in 1980, moved to the USA where he continued his studies at the Curtis Institute of Music and at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute, with Leonard Bernstein.

The German Chamber Philharmonic is clearly a collection of expert players, who can maintain perfect co-ordination under testing circumstances…there are sacrifices in such a daredevil approach to these venerated works, but it is bracing.
