About

Stone Records is delighted to present its third disc of Australian art songs. This CD, containing works by Margaret Sutherland (1897–1984), Geoffrey Allen (b.1927), Dorian Le Gallienne (1915–1963) and Michiel Irik (b.1953), features rising star soprano Katja Webb together with David Wickham, a pianist who is rapidly becoming a leading expert in the genre of Australian chamber music. David Wickham’s extensive and informative notes provide an excellent guide to this rarely heard repertoire.

Awards and reviews

Limelight Magazine September 2016

Webb's fruity soprano is lithe and adventurous, tackling this little-heard repertoire with thoughtful poise and relish. Wickham is precise and sympathetic. This is an important series, noteworthy for its excavations of musical expressions of Modernism in mid-20th century Australia.
