About

Using the motto adapted from the 1848 Jacobite Revolution, this recording seeks to continue the aspiration for the equality enshrined in it. A further French saying - vive la difference highlights the value of variety, and therefore the importance of the musical activities of these women.

Diana Ambache says: “Martin Cooper’s description in his book ‘French Music’ says The French composer is consciously concerned with the two data no one can question – his intelligence and his senses.” The music from the years spanned by this recording (1861 - 1952) illustrates these and other French characteristics, except that I am changing ‘his’ to ‘hers’.”
