CPO present the eagerly anticipated second volume of orchestral works by Lars-Erik Larsson, one of today’s most popular contemporary-classical composers in Sweden and beyond.
Varied examples of his compositions feature on this release. His Symphony No.2, where the composer has enhanced the cyclical structure of the work by reducing the number of movements to three, the Orchestral Variations op.50 which offer exemplary documentation of the free twelve-tone style of Larsson’s mature years, and the later Barococo Suite op.64, which displays an astonishingly youthful freshness and demonstrates the timeless power of the music.
