The polyphonic compositions on this disc allude to the figures of three great Poles: St. Andrzej Bobola (1531–1657), St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe (1894–1941) and Blessed Jerzy Popiełuszko (1947–1984). Though these martyrs lived in different socio-historical conditions, they are called the patrons of difficult times and ‘fools for God’ in the fight for freedom and the extension of God’s glory. Dutkiewicz, Sławecki and Urbaniak’s compositions clearly belong to the area of contemporary sacred music. Drawing upon the centuries-long tradition of religious music, they explore new spaces, inviting the listener to reflection and prayer.
