Nothing in this recital is bland but everything is gently accessible.
About
Gian Francesco Malipiero (1882-1973), was one of the most creative Italian composers within the so called 'Generazione dell’Ottanta' (Generation of the Eighties). Student at the Marco Enrico Bossi Liceo Musicale of Bologna, he began self-taught, studying the Italian masters of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
The piano pieces presented here give us an idea of his great spirit of creative innovation that, with the basics well anchored in the musical tradition (in fact Malipiero took care of the publication of the complete works of Claudio Monteverdi and Antonio Vivaldi), he was able to give new life to the writing of chamber and symphonic music.
Today we discover these beautiful works thanks to the pianist Sabrina Alberti, a great and sensitive interpreter, highly specialized in the repertoire of this historical period.
