Rachmaninov’s 24 Preludes are pianistic masterworks of the highest order. Each prelude expresses the deepest emotions of the Russian master, from ecstatic joy and tolling of bells, to Slavic melancholy and utter tragedy.

This unique live recording by Lukas Geniušas is a feat of extraordinary concentration and technical mastery. Played in the big hall of the famous Moscow Conservatory, it displays Geniušas’ prodigious gifts: supreme control, strong sense of structure and a sincere and warm projection of the human emotions of the music.

Lukas Geniušas, born into a family of musicians (his grandmother was the legendary Vera Gornostaeva), is Silver Medallist of the 2010 Chopin Competition, and first‐prize winner of the German Piano Award and the Gina Bachauer Competition.
