About
Although, we – from a today’s perspective – do not know much about Johann Georg Fincke’s (1680–1749) circumstances, his artistic bequest enables researchers to judge him without any doubt one of the most important organ builders of his time. Rainer Goede on this CD presents three essential instruments built by Fincke: the organs of St. Johannis in Neustadt/Orla, of the Protestant “Filialkirche” in Altenbeuthen and this of the Protestant Parish Church Vierzehnheiligen.
For the recording within the frame of querstand’s successful CD series „Orgeln in Thüringen“ (Organs in Thuringia) the organist has chosen compositions strongly related to the instruments in matters of history or aesthetics. Thus, there are introduced three nearly forgotten Thuringian composers, representatives of the generation before Bach: Andreas Armstroff, Johann Heinrich Buttstedt and Nicolaus Vetter.
