French organists from the end of the Ancien Regime

Olivier Baumont (organ Dom Bedos-Quoirin 1748, église Ste Croix, Bordeaux, piano organisé Erard-frères, 1791)

Les Ombres Heureuses
Oliver Baumont takes this repertoire seriously, as he should, and is a compelling advocate for an often criticised period of French music.

About

From Michel Corrette to Guillaume Lasceux, from Balbastre to Benaut, a kind of organ journal with entries compiled as much from avatars of classical forms as from pieces of a picturesque nature sounding the end of the Ancien Regime, from the Musette to the Tonnerre.

A rich palette of colours from the organ Dom Bedos-Quoirin in Bordeaux, offset by the rare timbres of the organised piano of Erard-frères from the Cité de la Musique in Paris.

Early Music Review April 2015

March 2015

The instruments featured on this CD are of such quality and curiosity that the opportunity to hear and learn about them is as much a reason to make the purchase as is the music itself and the quality of its interpretation. That said, the repertoire is delightful…and is superbly executed by Olivier Baumont.
