A reminder of our very special seasonal disc. German composers Hugo Distler (1908-1942) and Ernst Pepping (1901-1981), continued the tradition of writing music for use in church services that came from Bach.

Both composers lived through the most traumatic events of the 20th Century. Pepping somehow avoided much contact with the Nazis, Distler would be less fortunate. When it all became too much he committed suicide.

Does this intrude into their music? It would apper not. Their Motets are simply beautiful, a tribute to their inspiration and the wonderful singing of Ensemble Singklang - Jana Baltrusch, soprano, Nora Rutte, alto, Till Malte Mossner, baritone.

This is a seasonal programme for all year listening such are its riches.
