In 1996 and 1998 the Mannheimer Streichquartett with Claudius Tanski, piano, presented Max Reger’s Piano Quartets op. 113 and op. 133 as world premiere recordings.

A question for the producer, “The expressive fundamentality of the quartet and the innocent merriment of the serenade - is that a legitimate combination?“ The answer comes from Reger himself, “This program is just splendid! We would be hard put to come up with a better and more varied one!“ Therefore we complemented the Piano Quartet op. 113 with the Serenade op. 141a and the Piano Quartet op. 133 with the Duos op. 131b. These very successful recordings are now presented in a box of 2 CDs.
