About

Includes a BONUS DVD “Vem fan ar Allan Pettersson?” (“Who the hell is Allan Pettersson?”), a 52 minute interview made in 1974 for Sveriges Television. Subtitles in English.

Between 1951 and his death in 1980 Pettersson composed sixteen symphonies but only six other works.

The 4th Symphony is a single movement combining chorale-like passages with more modernist ones and is dedicated to the composer’s deeply religious mother. The 16th, occasionally jazz-scented, features a wild opening section memorably marked “frenetico”
