About

This live performance of two major works (the Romance which is placed midway through the programme was the original concert encore) was recorded at the seventh Festival for Pianists held at Chetham’s School of Music in August 2007.

“Alicja Fiderkiewicz ... a pianist of rare quality ... she plays with the kind of old-fashioned simplicity associated with the playing of her two great compatriots – Mieczyslaw Horszowski and Artur Rubinstein ... ” – Piano Magazine

After studies in her home country of Poland and in Russia Alicja Fiderkiewicz moved to the UK where she has built a fine reputation as a masterful interpreter of the Romantic repertoire and of Polish composers particularly. Originally recorded by Dunelm for limited release, but deleted after Dunelm founder Jim Pattison died, this album is being re-released as a result of high demand.
