About

As in first volume in this series, the wealth offered by a whole varied range of solo instruments in the serenades and concertos attests to the joy of experimentation typical of Michael Haydn. Haydn’s compositions appeal directly to the listener; with his economical use of complex structures makes his music for solo instruments easy on the ears. The Salzburg court ensemble employed outstanding musicians on whom Haydn could rely for tasks of this kind, and the Salzburg Hofkapelle continues to operate precisely in this tradition.
