I find this performance [of the Hammerklavier] hugely stimulating both technically and emotionally. It is quite a switch to the Moonlight Sonata, but again Bax excels here, too, by playing the work simply and beautifully...This is certainly a refreshing take on one of the piano’s warhorses.
