About
This is the 8th volume in THE FIRST COMPLETE EDITION OF THE SONGS OF HUGO WOLF, recorded live at the world-famous Oxford Lieder Festival. These songs, all settings of the poet Eichendorff, are a wonderful combination of some of Wolf’s best-known songs and a handful of rarities. They are performed by three prize-winning Lieder singers together with the Festival’s founder and director at the piano, and were recorded at a recital in Oxford in 2013.
They are presented here with full translations and notes by renowned Lieder expert Richard Stokes. The project, which will run to eleven discs in total, is nearing its completion, with the final recitals having been recorded at the 2013 Festival. This is essential listening for anyone interested in German Lieder.
