About

For a number of decades now, no other style of popular origin has provoked such an overwhelming infatuation with the tango. Not though the tango of yore of the Guard of Old of the thirties, but rather its revolutionary version as defended by Astor Piazzolla, born in 1922 in Rio de la Plata, cradle of the Argentinian tango. The classical arrangements by the near centenarian violoncellist José Bragato, old wayfarer of Piazzolla, as well as his own compositions testify to a great stylistic mastery and amply give their due to the violoncello. This recording puts into the limelight works whose poetic, sensitive or languishing flavour addresses us straightway, with the perfect sound, rhythm and style of the musicians of the Trio Portici.
