Jos Zwaanenburg is one of the world’s leading flautists specializing in the avant garde contemporary world of sonic art: here he collaborates with four composers in cutting edge works for flute and electronics of various kinds, in works which involve the manipulation of the live music and its transformation and re-emergence. The composers work at the specialist Sonic Art Research Unit at Oxford Brookes University, England,

with whom this album is co-produced. The results are more diverse and instantly gripping than many such ‘cutting edge’ projects, perhaps because of their extreme innovation and for that reasonmay appeal to those not normally drawn to the avant garde.
