About

The musicians of the Freiburger Barockorchester chose to highlight the craggiest ‘Sturm und Drang’ side of the composer in August 2008 when they recorded Symphony No. 49, ‘La Passione’. It is coupled here with Violin Concerto no.1 and Symphony No.80.

Goltz directs the Freiburger Barockorchester from the violin and does so with real spirit and affection...Goltz has the benefit of a highly talented and enthusiastic group of players...The sound quality is most agreeable and the booklet notes manage to be both very concise and informative - all adding to the desirability of this disc. This is an outstanding re-issue.
