About
Emanuel Moór was a composer, a pianist and organist, who was discovered by Pablo Casals and had a remarkable career as a composer in his own era. The composer‘s attraction towards the cello can also be attributed to Casals and the famous cellist, Anatoly Brandukov. According to expert opinions he had a special flair for composing for this instrument and his affinity was paired with extraordinary productivity. On the present recording there are three compositions dedicated to Casals. Emanuel Moór (1864-1931) Concerto for Two Cellos and Orchestra in D major, Op. 69 (27:51) Concerto for Cello and Orchestra in C sharp minor, Op. 64 (30:26) Prelude for Cello and Orchestra in E major, Op. 123 (4:42)

it is hard to place the idiom geographically. A touch of Brahms, perhaps? A pungent turn of phrase that suggests an original further east?...[Peter and Ildiko Szabo] together with a well-honed orchestra, tap the music's lyrical ad athletic seams with terrific aplomb.
