Arthur Levering (b. 1953), presents new works on this recording, for orchestra, string orchestra, large mixed ensemble, small ensemble with voice, and for two pianos.
The music covers a wide and expressive technical range, but the composer's elegant and rigorous use of patterns and their transofrmations is a consistent source of rich and vibrant energy. Various influences can be felt: rock music, with its ever present pulse and energy, but also Baroque music, minimlism and Indonesian gamelan.
