About

Intensive studies of the autographs of the works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart available at the Mozarteum in Salzburg have influenced the Vienna-born violinist Daniel Auner in his interpretation of Mozart’s chamber music. You can see the results in the Violin Sonatas in F major KV 377, in B flat major KV 454 and in G major KV 301, recorded here. In conjunction with the pianist Robin Green, who is also successful as a conductor, Auner performs research on the operatic element in this really ‘absolute’ music: special libretti were written for the individual sonatas, stories and situations related and arias sung. This has resulted in a recording focusing on dialogue: the dialogue between the musicians and the dialogue with Mozart. Guided by Mozart’s hints, the musicians find their own diction for his music.
