About

A flautist by training, Patrice Fouillaud studied at the Limoges Conservatory. He then began a career as an orchestral musician and teacher of music education before following a composition course at the Academia Chigiana in Sienna (1979) with Franco Donatoni. Finally he took advanced classes at the Academia Santa Cecilia in Rome (1980-1982) where he won a First Prize for composition. Director of the Villeneuve-le-Roi Conservatory from 1982 to 2009, he was the instigator of many teaching projects and in parallel has composed in all genres, with a preference for chamber music (Voile mauve, 1976; Polyphonies d’exil for oboe, violin, viola, cello and harpsichord, 1981) and small ensembles (Le bar aux oiseaux for mezzo-soprano and ensemble, 1979; Crépusculaire for 7 violas, 1984).

This disc presents Trois Ouvres pour Orchestre, performed by Hikotaro Yazaki, Farhad Mehkat, Lionel Fedrigo and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
