Cassilly is a forthright Florestan, but the sound of his voice is not altogether sympathetic...Moser seems to be slightly over-parted in the title role, although she does have the agility to negotiate the more coloratura aspects which Beethoven toned down considerably in Fidelio... If you want Leonore as far as possible in the form that Beethoven originally conceived it...then this Blomstedt recording remains eminently satisfactory.
