About

The liturgical celebration of the Cross was first and foremost linked to Good Friday, but later the Cross was given two feast days if its own – 14th September (the Exaltation of the Cross) and 3rd May (the Invention of the Cross). Interspersed with the text are works by Dunstable, Palestrina and Renaissance Motets, one by Gombert and two movements by Clemens non Papa, which are fine examples of the rich, developed polyphony of the mid-sixteenth century.
