Awards and reviews

June 2014

A beautifully contrasted programme. The excellent Apollon Musagete Quartet sounds most at home in Shostakovich's ferocious outpourings. The Tchaikovsky is pleasingly delicate; the Prokofiev could be spikier.

May 2014

Apollon Musagete plays with less vibrato than has been expected in this music, even in the recent past, but its sound remains warm and human, thanks to its finely judged phrasing.
