Carl Rütti is one of the most important of living Swiss composers, with his music being performed and recorded all over the world. This new CD is the latest in a series of his works to be issued on the Guild label, and coincidentally it is one of the most unusual, not to say unique, issues of any music in recent years, being a recital of music for piano and harp. On the one hand, we have two major suites for this very unusual but complementary combination of instruments, and on the other important solo works for harp - an evocative study 'Under the linden Tree' - and for solo piano, 'The Four Elements', which is one of the most significant solo piano pieces to have appeared in the present century. The performances are outstanding, and the recording quality is state-of-the-art.
