All of these singers are adequate, none of them is a big name...but this is a disc few would regret buying.

About
This is the seventh volume in the first complete edition of the songs of Hugo Wolf, recorded live at the world-famous Oxford Lieder Festival. These songs, performed by four prize-winning Lieder singers together with the Festival’s founder and director at the piano, were captured over two recitals during the 2012 Festival and are presented here with full translations and notes by renowned Lieder expert Richard Stokes. The project, which will run to eleven discs in total, is nearing its completion, with the final recitals having been recorded at the 2013 Festival.
This is essential listening for anyone interested in German Lieder.

Marcus Farnsworth has the most sonorous voice of the four; you're happy to hear him sing almost anything. If anyone dominates the set, it's soprano Birgid Steinberger, who wings roughly a third of the 34 songs...Her soprano is an agile borderline soubrette that often gives you the face as well as the soul of a song's protagonist.
