About
Appreciated and encouraged at the time by renowned composers such as Darius Milhaud and Maurice Ravel, Maxime Jacob, who became in 1930 Dom Clement Jacob, was seen as the figure of a certain French musical tradition: spontaneity and simplicity were the words often used to describe his music. His musical language, very directly inspired by Gounod, was at the time perfectly within the framework of neoclassical aesthetic. This second album of the pianist Bernard Arbus is a wonderful tribute to a composer of great interest in the history of piano music.
