About

This is the first COMPLETE recording of Scelsi’s works for solo violin.

Includes the FIRST RECORDING of the “Divertimento #2.”

The pieces span from Scelsi’s early virtuoso style of the “Divertimenti” to his later explorations of the “inside of sound.” Taiwanese born violinist Weiping Lin lives in Austria, where she is first violinist in the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra. A specialist in contemporary music, she has also performed in prestigious ensembles such as Ensemble Modern and Ensemble die reihe.

Produced by Scelsi expert Sharon Kanach.

Awards and reviews

September 2013

Performed to extraordinary perfection by Weiping Lin… The violin opens up a whole range of subtle graduations unique to itself including double-stopped incremental glissandos and microtonality. Engaged and engaging’ Lin is completely in control of both of these diametrically opposed styles to the point that I’d recommend this disc to anyone

September 2013

Agile performances of Scelsi’s early divertimentos, slipping in and out of their references to Romanticism and folk music with ease and wit. Her vibrato is clean and responsive and her phrasing immaculate, and she’s a passionate advocate for all the disc’s varied music.
