The music has the calming, a cappella air of “spiritual polyphony” – sometimes dreamily tuneful, sometimes bleak and eerie...Many of these small-scale pieces were commissioned by the Schola Cantorum Reykjavik, who bring them beautifully to life.

April 2013

[Niunda Stund] is the most varied and extrovert work here. Elsewhere, the emphasis is on a certain pan-tonal Nordic brooding, whose dissonance quotient varies from piece to piece...The bright tone of the Schola Cantorum Reykjavik carries a subdued undertow of darker colours, which matches the music's aesthetic very well.
