For their third release in this new series, New World Records has chosen Eileen, one of Herbert’s most beloved scores. Even Herbert was inclined to view this work as his best effort. Although composed late in his career, it captures the romantic soul of Herbert and epitomizes the romantic American operetta in its transition from Victor Herbert to Jerome Kern.
