About
Berg, Webern and Schoenberg all shared a borderland between tonality and atonality and collectively are perhaps better known for their later works. This disc is a tribute to their shared love of lyricism and song and represents their early works, an homage to the Romantic tradition.

All of these songs are fascinating, but it is the performances which make this an outstanding disc. Marianne Beate Kielland has a beautiful mezzo voice, deep and expressive, but with a soprano lightness which is utterly responsive to the extremes of mood and linguistic expression
