29 May 2013 marks the 100th Anniversary of the legendary premiere performance of Stravinsky’s LE SACRE DU PRINTMEPS, at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris – the most significant event in 20th Century classical music. LE SACRE DU PRINTEMPS became, and remains, one of the greatest works within the classical music genre – the shock of this groundbreaking score can still be felt today. Decca celebrate the 100th Anniversary of this masterpiece with two special Anniversary releases.

This outstanding collection brings together six of the greatest recordings ever made of the work from the catalogues of Decca, Deutsche Grammophon and Philips.

In addition to digital recordings by Antal Dorati, Riccardo Chailly, Pierre Boulez, Valery Gergiev and Esa-Pekka Salonen, is a recording from 1956 by Pierre Monteux, the conductor of the premiere on that infamous night in 1913.

Also included on the fourth CD is Jon Tolansky’s illuminating audio documentary that includes the first ever issue of first hand, eye-witness recollections of the legendary premiere, and specially recorded comments on the work’s revolutionary power from international conductors, choreographers and dancers.
