William Christie's charming performance has fine instrumental playing. Paul Agnew's chesty Acis is a bit over-exaggerated, but Sophie Daneman's seductive Galatea and Alan Ewing's villainous Polyphemus are enthralling.

2010

Daneman sings Galatea with something more than stylised pastoral sensuality...Ewing's Polyphemus, done with spirit and humour in a well-focused, firm-edged voice and articulated with precision, is excellent...it's a polished and strongly characterised performance, and well worth trying.
