Awards and reviews

June 2012

In many ways this is a fascinating release, mainly because of an odd feature. To be more specific, although the conductor and orchestra are identical in both works, each symphony sounds as if it were under different direction.

May 2012

Butt’s ability to convey Beethoven’s style is apparent in this recording, which juxtaposes two directions in the composer’s efforts...With such lively interpretations as these, the music reflects the continuous tradition that exists for Beethoven’s symphonic works.
