This is a sparkling compilation of English solo piano music and includes music by Delius, Quilter, Grainger, Warlock, Moeran, Bax, Gardner, Austin, O’Neill and Scott. All the works are performed by the Delius devotee, pianist and broadcaster Paul Guinery. This year we celebrate the 150th anniversary of Delius’ birth, so this is a timely release.

Guinery brings a kindly sonority to his playing of these pieces; indeed, the recording overall is notable for its lack of insistence and focus on nuance. After all, this is not music with which to impress in a showy way, but to court the sense...[Guinery is] a fine and empathetic performer.
