About
In his String Quartet in Four Parts, Cage aimed for a musical idiom intended for gut strings and wanted no vibrato. This inspired Frank Agsteribbe to arrange the work for Baroque string orchestra and critically acclaimed Belgian ensemble B’Rock has taken up the project.
B’Rock has cleverly combined Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with the Cage, alternating one movement of each on disc 1, with the complete works on disc 2.

[it] pays off big time, with each movement of the Cage acting as a strange, oneiric pendant or footnote to each concerto in The Four Seasons...generous rhetorical pauses and profuse ornamentation [are] the order of the day. But in the context of Cage's poised stillness, the effect is extraordinary.
