Änglaspel (Angel Chimes) is an institution on the Swedish jazz scene. The band was founded in the '70s by Stefan Forssén ­ leader, composer and pianist. One could mainly argue that the music of Änglaspel is always fresh, as it is written by the members of the group. Every piece is undertaken a process where the entire ensemble forms the music. But eventually, as in all jazz, it is in the moment that "everything happens". It might seem unnecessary to add, but sometimes the result sounds terrible! Yes, it happens that a composition quickly is thrown in the trash. Änglaspel is happy to colloborate with other ensembles, especially those who make music far from jazz. Their live performances are recognized by surprising happenings, wild humour and tender madness. Maybe that is why even the unexperienced jazz listeners take Änglaspel to their hearts.
