This disc presents five recent monographic works for solo instruments, performed by musician-followers of Pierre Bartholomée. Artistic director and resident conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège for 22 years, he also founded, with Henri Pousseur, the Ensemble Musiques Nouvelles in 1962, where he had personal contact with Olivier Messiaen, Iannis Xenakis, Luciano Berio, Pierre Boulez, Alfred Schnittke and premiered several of their works. Oraisons for cello and Face à Face for viola were written respectively Ophélie Gaillard and Dominica Eyckmans. Le Livre d’orgue (2008) is dedicated to Bernard Foccroulle.
