About
The chamber works for flute contained on this CD largely originated during the period of Martinů’s exile in the US alongside the four grand symphonies he composed between 1942-1945. Characteristic traits of these chamber pieces are the polyphonic treatment of individual instrumental parts and the timbral diversity of the combinations of the instruments involved.

a good, even delightful, programme of the Czech master's writing for this silkiest of woodwind instruments...Agata Igras-Sawicka proves a most sympathetic interpreter, fleet of finger and tongue in her articulation of Marintu's angular writing. The tempi are on the swift side yet still relaxed in tone and there are many gains for all that...the programme repays repeated listening.
