About
Harrison has had a long-term love affair with the Indonesian Gamelan, having first heard it on recordings. In the early fifties he composed pieces in which he imitated the sound of the Gamelan on Western instruments. In the seventies he studied the gamelan tradition and the later works on this CD are the result. The works include a concerto for piano with Javanese Gamelan.
