Awards and reviews

July 2011

[Fassbaender's] part is purely a spoken one, done with immense sinister relish. There are some lovely orchestral interludes, and no lover of Hansel will want to miss this set.

May 2011

From the first note of this recording I find much of it utterly delightful...a beautifully performed version with fine singing from Christina Landshamer and Tobias Haaks, and with Brigitte Fassbaender commanding in the purely declamatory role of the evil fairy...The whole is magically orchestrated. It's certainly a work worth getting to know.

March 2011

Casting Brigitte Fassbaender in the speaking role of Dämonia proves an inspiration in this world premiere recording...any German speakers will enjoy Fassbaender's evil relish of this melodramatic character. Her speaking voice is as characterful as was her singing voice...The heroes of the set are conductor Ulf Schirmer...and the Munich Runfunkorchester...which plays this lovely music...with flair and genuine affection.
