About
Pavlov-Azancheev spent 10 years (1941-1951) in one of Stalin's labour camps, but kept producing first-rate music. He sent some of his scores out into the 'free world' - some very ambitious pieces for guitar, for example a sonata entitled 'The Great Patriotic War' that lasts longer than 30 min and has movements such as 'Parade on the Red Square', 'First Post-War Stalinist Five-Year Plan', etc.
This collection is the world premiere recording of Pavlov-Azancheev’s wistful, melodic music for the Russian seven-string guitar.
