A real curiosity, this. Two new comic operas, written by two different composers and the same librettist, as a double bill...I cannot single out any particular singer for praise, because the complete sense of ensemble is the real achievement here. Each of the five soloists is excellent, and accompanied to perfection by pianists Michael Barrett and Steven Blier.
