Awards and reviews
April 2011
vividly conducted by Lamberto Gardelli, with Montserrat Caballé, Nicolai Gedda and Gabriel Bacquier all supplying the vocal goods.
Lamberto Gardelli draws rich and lucid playing from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, giving a splendid performance of the overture and the ballet music and accompanying tactfully and with a quick ear for the textures and the sometimes very original scoring which Rossini employs.
January 2011
Gardelli is a tasteful, alert conductor who raises the roof impressively in some of the more climactic moments and he maintains drive and interest throughout Tell's vast canvas...Gedda is an immensely musical Arnold and he sails over most of the extreme demands of the part without sacrificing line or a sense of style...the rest of the cast is admirable.
