About

Camerata Vocale Freiburg - conducted by Winfried Toll - is, without a doubt one of South Germany‘s leading mixed choirs. The choir is famous for its “perfectly homogeneous harmony, the transparence and pure clarity of the voices, without seeming ascetic” (as confirmed by the FAZ). On this new release Camerata Vocale devotes itself to two 19th century masses. ‘Cantus Missae’ is the only double choir work written by the composer and has been described as “the most beautiful pure vocal mass of the 19th century”. Bruckner‘s ‘Mass in E minor’ draws the special colouring of its sound from the harmony accompaniment provided by woodwind and brass instruments, as well as archaic methods in keeping with the spirit of Renaissance choral polyphony.
