This first recording by the group combines Schoenberg’s 1899 masterpiece Verklärte Nacht for string sextet with Glass’ four-movement Symphony No.3 transcribed for string sextet. The ensemble give a subtle reading of the Schoenberg and demonstrate their close relationship with Glass in the Symphony. This is the first of a series of recordings pairing Glass’ music with classical masterpieces.
